Photo of Andee a Rett Syndrome girl whose Dad is running a marathon to raise money for the RSAAAndee’s father wrote “In July 2019 my then 8 year old daughter was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome.”   Rett Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that affects a person’s ability to walk, talk, or purposely use their hands.   Rett Syndrome is like having Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Autism, Parkinson’s, anxiety, and breathing abnormalities all in one child.

“In 2020 we started to get a team together to run in the events of the Gold Coast Marathon and try to raise money and awareness for Rett Syndrome. With a goal of $7,500 we managed to raise total of $6,017.64 before Covid-19 managed to shut everything down. So only $1,500 to go to reach our target. The RSAA provides support to parents, siblings and carers; organises and funds State-based family gatherings; and financially supports Rett Syndrome specific research and projects.”
