9th World Rett Syndrome Congress: Postponed to 2021

When: 29 September to 2 October 2021

Location: Surfers Paradise, Queensland

RSAA first mooted the suggestion that the 9th World Rett Syndrome Congress take place in Australia at the RTT 50.1 conference held in Vienna in September 2016, an event which marked the 50th anniversary of the first publication on Rett syndrome.  Later, at Rett Syndrome Europe’s Congress in Berlin (2017) and the international Rett syndrome conference in Rome (2018), RSAA again let it be known that it was willing to stage the event. A positive response was received on both of those occasions and what with, to our knowledge, no other Rett syndrome Association actively seeking to do likewise, RSAA has committed to running with it.

The Association has created a Congress website to which information will be added progressively.  It can be accessed at http://rettworldcongress.org

At this point in time, our aim is to have the Congress programme applicable to both scientist and non-scientist. Both streams would run concurrently, with the former probably spanning two days and the latter, three and a half days. The content will contain familiar topics and hopefully, include some topics which are usually not in the limelight at Rett syndrome conferences but which might deserve attention.

Participation, be it by parents, relatives, friends, scientists, therapists, teachers, health professionals, carers, Rett syndrome Associations, equipment providers, interested groups, sponsors and others, regardless of location, is an important ingredient for a successful and meaningful World Congress. RSAA has begun the process of making that happen.

This is a Congress for the Rett syndrome world. Any support, be it attending (particularly so from Australia or nearby) or by some other means, would be most welcome by RSAA.
